In my opinion, you don’t need a specific reason for an extended family session, but we had several in this case! Kathy and Ching-Cheng were celebrating their 40th anniversary (!!), and Ching-Cheng was celebrating a milestone birthday, so the whole fam gathered together to take some celebratory photos. This crew kept it fun, pulling out all the stops to engage their fave three-year old J, who did amazing!! J even helped me take some photos towards the end - I think we have a budding photographer on our hands ;)

Haven’t had a full extended family session in a while! I’ve known Lian and Nikki (and Sam + Clement hahaha) for many years now, but thanks to the panini (ha) I haven’t had a chance to hang out with the kiddos as much. So I loved chilling with this crew on a recent Sunday afternoon in San Jose…

This past winter, I got to hold my second annual round of mini sessions! I always love the opportunity to serve multiple families during the busy holiday season and to get them some updated photos for their holiday cards - especially when there are little ones involved!
I first met this family when they were guests at April + Michael’s wedding - can you spot their daughter KK in one of the cocktail hour photos? (Hint: boba!) So when Gloria reached out for some new family photos, I was so excited to get them officially in front of my camera! It was a delight to photograph all of them together - little Timothy was just adorable, and KK was such a sweet big sister! I think she may have a photographer’s heart in her, as she was always ready with some creative new ideas for poses and family combinations ;) We also got some photos with Gloria’s parents, and it’s obvious that the kids just adore them!

50 years. The whole extended Nolt family reunited in the Bay Area from all across the country to celebrate the 50 years that Robert and Anna have been married! It was pretty hot during our late afternoon session, but they were all such troopers and kept each other entertained and in good spirits. The kids were especially well-behaved (I heard there were some sweets offered as bribes - I approve ;)) and came up with some super fun and creative poses towards the end of the session (see the last photo!)

I promised myself that 2018 would be the year I started blogging a year-end reflection.. is February 2019 too late for that? ;) I’ve been honored this past year to meet and photograph so many beautiful families all across the Bay Area, each with their own unique stories.. extended families who live spread across the globe, or those whose grandparents help babysit the grandkids every week.. new families with their very first child, those with three or more, and those with their first on the way… some with pets and some with kids just as rambunctious ;) Here are a few of my faves!
Cupertino Family Photographer | The Karp + Chandler Family
Grandparents are known for doting on their grandchildren, and my Cupertino family session with the Karps and Chandlers was no exception! It warmed my heart to see how much Ashley and Jonathan’s parents adored little Kira, and how they would do whatever it took to make her smile - more on that at the end of the post ;)
