Michael was early to our designated meeting spot for the first look. I asked him if he was nervous, and he grinned at me, “No, I’m excited!”
Soon, April arrived with her sister / maid of honor. As she was getting her last touches of hair and makeup, done in the car, I asked her how she was feeling. She beamed. “I’m good!”
First looks are different for each couple, because each couple has their own unique dynamic and story. For April and Michael, their first look was serene, tender. Their wedding day would be the beginning of their lifelong commitment to be each other’s safe havens amidst any nerves or trials to come their way, to be the first to offer a comforting embrace, and to celebrate and delight in one another.
The hours after this went by in a blur, as most wedding days do, but the consistent theme throughout the day was a celebration of family, community, and relationships centered on Christ. Their bridal party was Michael’s brother and April’s sister. April’s dad officiated the ceremony at their church in Cupertino, and her brother was the MC. Michael’s mom surprised them with a beautiful serenade during their reception. And the night ended with dancing, where the show was stolen as per usual by some energetic children :)
April and Michael, I’m so happy for you! I can tell you two are so good for each other, not just from the heartfelt toasts during your reception, but from the time I’ve spent with the two of you during your engagement session and throughout your wedding day, where laughs and hugs flowed naturally and freely. You bring such joy and comfort to each other, and I know you will continue to do so throughout your marriage. Congratulations again!!
