They met four years ago, but Chris was about to move out to Charleston, and Kimberli was just transitioning back into their church. Two years went by, and while they saw each other here and there, it wasn't until Chris moved back to the Bay that anything happened..
The two of them ended up carpooling on the way to a church retreat, and as they talked in the car, Chris found himself thinking "Wow, she's a really mature and cool girl.." A couple days after the retreat, he asked Kimberli out to dinner, and on that first date, asked her to be his girlfriend! She asked for a total of three dates first. Two dates later, she gave the green light :)
A few weeks ago, I got an email from Chris: "Not a day shorter or longer is going to change my mind that I want to spend the rest of my days on this earth with Kimberli, so now it's time to ask her hand in marriage.."
Chris chose Treasure Island for his proposal in its dreamy golden hour, and I have to say, we are spoiled with some beautiful views here in the Bay! Chris and I established a spot along the sidewalk farther from the crowded parking lot, and my husband / second shooter John and I got there early to set up and wait.
Chris told Kimberli they had dinner reservations at 5:30 in the city. There was so much traffic on the Bay Bridge, but he made a pit stop at Treasure Island anyway. When she asked him why, he explained that since she had previously requested him to write her a letter, he wanted to find somewhere to sit with a nice view so she could read it. They parked and started walking over, but about 400 feet in, Kimberli told him, "This spot is pretty enough." LOL! So Chris gave her the letter, and I got a text: "We're here. Come find us." Cue John and I frantically but "casually" sprinting back and scoping out every couple to see if it was them! Luckily, we caught them just in time..
Chris and I had timed it out so we'd have time in the middle of golden hour to do a mini photo session, and they would still make it for their dinner reservations! I have to say, my job is super easy when you have two people who adore each other like they do..
Chris and Kimberli, congratulations again on your engagement! We are so happy for you and excited to see you two grow in that messy, sacrificial, beautiful covenant of marriage. Blessings to you in this engagement season!
