It was February 2017. Adam was on a mission, and he wouldn't be deterred! He was going to find his girlfriend's father, ask for her hand in marriage, and she wasn't going to have the slightest clue! Adam stealthily dropped by Jennifer's dad's house throughout the week, trying to catch him in between his many business trips. Finally, timing worked out. Jennifer's Taiwanese immigrant father, unaware of the American tradition of surprising the future bride, called his daughter soon after: "Adam just asked me if he could marry you, what should I do?" Jennifer must have suppressed a laugh as she answered, "I don't think you're supposed to tell me that.."
One month later, Jennifer and Adam were on a date at a nice restaurant in San Francisco. She couldn't help but wonder throughout the evening whether this would be the night. At one point she even asked him, and he protested "No, not now!” After dinner, Jennifer was driving them home when Adam started telling her all these sweet things, listing all the reasons he loved her. She continued to drive, happily soaking in the moment, when suddenly... a police car pulled up behind them! She had run a stop sign! Adam cautiously asked if he should still propose, to which she responded good-naturedly, “Yeah just do it, I’m already in the mood.” So they continued their drive home - Jennifer in the passenger’s seat this time - and he popped the question when they got home.
We started our afternoon together with some delicious ice cream at a local shop in Portola Valley. Jennifer's floor-length gown basically had me in heart-eyes the whole time, and Adam looked extra dapper in his blazer!
After a quick outfit change, we headed off to the gorgeous Windy Hill Preserve. Jennifer has hiked here many a time with her friends, so she knew all the best spots! With Adam in his dress shoes and Jennifer in her heels and sleeveless dress, the two of them were troopers braving the inclines and intense gusts of wind. Windy Hill truly lived up to its name!
Jennifer and Adam, thank you for choosing me to capture this wonderful season of your lives! I had a wonderful time exploring new places with you. Thanks for not making too much fun of me as I clambered into brush to get the perfect shot ;) I can't wait for your wedding in June!
