One of my favorite parts of photographing families is watching their kids grow over the years! You may remember the Mukhtars from my Sunnyvale family session with Octary's side of the family a few months ago! This time around, Hilmu's parents and sister were in town, so we all got together again for some a fun afternoon in San Francisco. It was crazy to see how much the little girls have grown even in a few months, especially little Nayla! I also loved being able to meet Octary's sweet grand-aunt, who has helped raise the girls.

I met the Benitez family at a local park in San Jose for a perfect sunny morning. Little Mateo had a blast pointing out all his vocabulary words coming to life at the park - "bike, bird, airplane, train, duck!" My favorite had to be "ashu", a combination of the Spanish and Chinese words for water. We let him roam around and point at all his favorites, and he thanked us with some adorable smiles :)

It was just the two of them. Octary and Hilmu, strolling through the trees, gazing at each other with the sweetest little giggles. As I snapped away with my camera, I heard raucous laughter and singing behind me. We turned to see an adorable sight: Octary's two siblings dancing and hopping around, her mom bouncing baby Mikayla, her dad grinning off to the side, and little Nayla in the midst of it all with the hugest smile.

I love when families get together for the holidays. The idea of traveling from near and far to gather under one roof, share indulgent meals (and snacks!), play old and new games, and have all generations laughing and hugging together just warms my heart! So I'm always so honored when families invite me into their precious time together :)

Shouts of glee traveled over from the playground. Eduardo looked up at his parents with a huge grin. "Niños! Niños!" he exclaimed. He tugged on their hands and looked towards the other children. At 2 years old, little Eduardo was already a major extrovert!
Maria and Jorge, I had so much fun spending an afternoon with your family. I loved all the ways you endeavored to make your son smile, from playing multiple rounds of catch to dancing to "Ring Around the Rosie" over and over until he collapsed into giggles. Also, who can say no to those adorable salmon-colored pants?
