This sweet family contacted me to capture their memories in the redwoods of Sanborn County Park in Saratoga. I particularly loved this session because they are all so clearly at home on the trails, especially little I, who took great joy in scampering over rocks and running ahead of her parents to lead the way.

This maternity session in Palo Alto’s cactus garden is an extra special one! My dear friends Julia and Ryan are expecting their first child in October - only a few weeks away!! If you know them personally, it will be no surprise that these two have been constantly pushing themselves to do more with less time in all spheres of their lives. This has been especially true for them during these past few months, where they’ve seen each other through multiple transitions - professional, communal, and personal. I’ve been personally blessed witnessing their commitment to support each other and bring all their concerns before God through it all. We were able to secure a rare weekend evening together in their final stages of pregnancy, and I’m so excited to share these portraits commemorating this precious season of waiting and looking forward to a brand new family member!

Last weekend, I had the immense honor of photographing the extended Young family in Crissy Field in San Francisco. Sharleen reached out to me with her husband and his siblings to gift their parents with a surprise photo session in celebration of Jeannie and Michael’s 50th wedding anniversary.. yes, 50th!! It was absolutely precious to see the living legacy of their relationship running around them, especially the family is now scattered across the country. San Francisco gave us a classically overcast day, and they were all such good sports in the somewhat chilly weather - especially the two kids! It helped that they all knew how to crack each other up (read: jumping photos, some creative posing ideas, 4-year old Dylan somehow knowing how to dab.. ??)

Blue and gold! It takes some serious skill to coordinate a palette across 9 family members that goes together but still isn’t too matchy-matchy, and this extended family pulled it off amazingly well for their Los Gatos family session in Vasona Park! Bonus points for choosing Cal colors ;) (GO BEARS!)
When Sharanya initially reached out for photos, she semi-joked that it would basically be a photoshoot for Aiden, with the rest of the family just happening to be there. True to form, Aiden was the star of the show the entire evening, giggling and gleefully romping around the park. To his credit, he was quite the equal opportunity cuddler - once he gave someone a kiss, he’d run from family member to family member until everyone was properly assured that they were also loved.

Erica and Matt’s wedding in Mountain View was full of joy and laughter. Ever since their sunny engagement session in Los Gatos, I’ve been looking forward to photographing more of their radiant smiles and giggles! Community is such a huge part of their story, and they wove that beautifully into their wedding day, creating an energetic and loving atmosphere for their 300+ guests. We started the day getting ready at church in Mountain View. Erica and her bridesmaids all did their own hair and makeup, and they looked absolutely STUNNING!

Extended family sessions are always fun for me to see all the inter-family dynamics, and this session in Los Altos was no different! These five cousins were so good with taking all the regular family photos and then extra good at letting loose with playful photos, especially the youngest Darrell!
