From the moment I met with Nancy and Hsiang in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, I could tell that these two adored each other. It was the holding hands, the little giggles, the quick stolen kisses as they whispered and hugged and laughed - all the ingredients for the sweetest engagement session! Nancy looked gorgeous, with her hair and makeup done by the talented Jackie Su Artistry, Hsiang was the perfect mix of casual and cool, and the two were color coordinated (but not matchy-matchy!) down to Hsiang's shoelaces!

I loved every minute of my time with Sarah and Mark. We met up for their engagement session at Sunol Wilderness, which they've been to several times but was new to me. Well, I'm so glad Sarah suggested it because was absolutely gorgeous! They were super prepared with a bag full of comfy walking shoes to change into between spots, and even though the weather was a bit humid and sticky, these two lovebirds laughed and played their way through it, making it super easy for me to capture it in these photos!

Joy. Erica and Matt's engagement session in Los Gatos was filled with joy - Erica's contagious laughs, Matt's grins as he adapted to my weird posing requests, and the three of us finding our way around Vasona Park. We chose a windy day for the session (despite how sunny and golden it looks!), but these two were SUCH good sports! The two of them are so giggly and relaxed with each other and made my job so so easy. Plus I'm always down for excuses to snuggle close :)

It was February 2017. Adam was on a mission, and he wouldn't be deterred! He was going to find his girlfriend's father, ask for her hand in marriage, and she wasn't going to have the slightest clue! Adam stealthily dropped by Jennifer's dad's house throughout the week, trying to catch him in between his many business trips. Finally, timing worked out. Jennifer's Taiwanese immigrant father, unaware of the American tradition of surprising the future bride, called his daughter soon after: "Adam just asked me if he could marry you, what should I do?" Jennifer must have suppressed a laugh as she answered, "I don't think you're supposed to tell me that.."

They met four years ago, but Chris was about to move out to Charleston, and Kimberli was just transitioning back into their church. Two years went by, and while they saw each other here and there, it wasn't until Chris moved back to the Bay that anything happened..

He leaned in and whispered into her ear. She nodded. He whispered some more. A smile crept across her face. Finally, Kristen burst out into giggles. Quess grinned in success at making his future wife laugh. Kristen, still smiling, shook her head and turned to me: "He was telling me how he was going to order chicken wings after this."
I've known Kristen and Quess since college, but I had never hung out with just the two of them as a couple. Let me tell you, it was SO much fun! It's easy to see how much they enjoy being with each other, making each other laugh, and trying all the crazy and sometimes awkward things I ask them to do! It makes my photographer heart flutter when clients trust my ideas! :)
I loved that these two chose places near and dear to their hearts. Oakland is where Kristen currently works, where they have visited the Oakland Museum of California many a time, and where both of them have spent many an afternoon ballin' up all the pickup basketball games and roaming the streets of Chinatown. From there it was just a quick drive over to their current neighborhood in Alameda. This is a special city to them not only because they both live there, but also because it is home to one of their favorite food spots - Q's Halal Chicken! The owner even knows Quess' face and usual order! That's when you know you've made it.
Quess and Kristen, your happiness was infectious! I loved hanging out in the East Bay with you two, and I am SO excited for your wedding next year! Oh, and thanks for sharing some of your Q's combo plates with me - clearly you know the way to my heart ;)
